Virgil van Dijk and Seamus Coleman go at it in Merseyside derby melee

It all started when Andy Robertson kicked the ball away.

Virgil van Dijk and Seamus Coleman squared up to each other as a melee broke out between the Liverpool and Everton players in the Merseyside derby on Monday. Liverpool were 2-0 up thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo, while Everton never really looked like they were threatening to score. Andy Robertson was involved in a clash with Jordan Pickford and kicked the ball away in what can only be described as a bit of shithousery from the Scotsman. Pickford let him know how he felt which was only met by laughter as the Liverpool full back flashed him a big cheeky grin, much to the annoyance of Conor Coady. More and more players got involved and soon the towering figure that is van Dijk was breaking up everything from the sideline as he was on the bench, only just now returning from injury. The Everton captain took particular exception to this and was straight over in the face of the Dutchman, unafraid of his enormous figure and powerful presence. You didn't need to be a lip reader to find out what Coleman was saying to Liverpool's vice captain, and only for Tsiskmas taking the attention towards him, they may have came to blows. Unfortunately, the Irishman didn't enjoy the best night.
