The Welshman ran through and rocketed a shot to the net after the deftest of headers from Niall Quinn Ronaldo to secure all three points and open up a five point lead at the top of the table.
Roque Santa Cruz scored late as a consolation for the home side, but Madrid's success under Carlo Ancelotti means the club have now won 16 games in a row- a feat Jose Mourinho achieved with Madrid in 2011, and Miguel Minoz in 1961.
