This summer we may have to hate Vincent Kompany.

But it will be only for 90 minutes when he is playing Ireland, as the Belgian is one of the few decent and likeable football players left in the game. The centre-half captained Manchester City to the League Cup success over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon at Wembley. Kompany did not have to step up to take one, as Yaya Toure’s penalty was enough to secure a 3-1 success on spot kicks.
