Steven Fletcher left a lot of blood on the pitch on Sunday.

Sheffield Wednesday's new striker had his competitive club debut cut short after a clash of heads with Aston Villa's Tommy Elphick in the first half of their Championship opener this weekend. Cameras picked up the significant gash left by the collision as Fletcher's head began leaking blood when he attempted to stand up. But after sustaining one of the worst cuts we've seen in football, the Scotland international was taken off and replaced by Gary Hooper up front for Wednesday. Elphick, who was cut open too, came back on after being bandaged up and supporters couldn't help but notice a resemblance between the injured players and England legend Terry Butcher. https://twitter.com/Tanderson_swfc/status/762316712997974016 https://twitter.com/CianByName/status/762316779247067136 https://twitter.com/onlyjackarmy/status/762317425773776896 https://twitter.com/andylane1967/status/762333466218364929 https://twitter.com/lennylion74/status/762317974401388544 https://twitter.com/FinlanSimon/status/762316773773438976 https://twitter.com/andyjack01/status/762316523746816001
