This is true class. And it's madness all the same.
Shota Arveladze, manager of Turkish Super Lig side Kasimpasa, showed real sportsmanship last night when he instructed his team to allow the opposition to score.
Ryan Donk had netted with an admittedly fine strike whilst Ryan Babel was down injured for Konyaspor, so the manager did the right thing and told his team to step aside and grant an open net for the equaliser.
Arveladze's team went on to lose the game 2-1 but you'd think nothing would've been made of the piece of class which originally let Konyaspor back into the tie.
Not so. In the aftermath, former Rangers striker Shota Arveladze announced his resignation after two and a half years in the job.
No official reason was given for the exit but he felt the need to defend his actions.
"I do not want to talk about this situation. Anyone would make same decision as me," he said afterwards.
"I decided to make this choice because this is what Kasimpasa really are.
"I talked with my guys after match and told them that I'm going to resign. Thank you very much to everybody in the club."
Kasimpasa sit bang in the middle of the table in ninth place. Hardly under that much pressure that they can't show a bit of decency. Bizarre.
