Today marks a quarter century since Liverpool were last crowned first division [now Premier League] champions. The Merseysiders beat QPR 2-1 to tot up a points total that Aston Villa, their nearest challengers, could not catch. The highlights of the game include a nice Ian Rush finish, on the back post, and a highly questionable penalty that John Barnes tucked home. The moment, from the match highlights [below], that caught our attention was a ball-winning tackle from QPR defender Alan McDonald that nearly cut Ronny Rosenthal in half. 'Play on' waved the referee as Rosenthal chewed some grass and wondered if he'd ever miss open goals play again.
