Louis van Gaal must be wondering this morning how did his managerial career get to here: being defended by Big Sam. The Manchester United boss is seemingly under constant pressure - actually, he's not as much anymore because apparently Jose Mourinho is away buying and selling players for that United team that's already his. And the Dutch managerial legend reached a new low on Thursday when he made a fresh ally in Sam Allardici. The Sunderland boss jumped to the defence of van Gaal and his record, despite the falling-out they had just last year.
