Thank goodness they were there to stop all the squaring up...
When you're being held back, you don't really want to get at someone. Really.
In this case, the fans in the Anfield stands were the voice of reason, holding a wound-up Mario Balotelli back after a confrontation with Chris Smalling.
The United defender wrestles for position with the Liverpool striker as they chase a ball to the sideline but, as Balotelli loses his balance, he makes sure that he isn't going alone as he tries to take Smalling with him.
Even after he falls, he grabs hold of Smalling's foot but as he gets up looking for more, the Liverpool crowd come to his rescue fearing another straight red after Gerrard's earlier dismissal.
"Calm down, calm down." (You can't tell but I'm doing a dreadful Scouse accent here)
