Fred isn't Brazilian.
That's the only explanation for the latest miss in a career that has been far less spectacular than those of his international teammates. The 31-year-old defiantly offered up his candidate for miss of the season during Fluminense's 2-1 victory over Santos last night. After opening the scoring (to be fair to him), Fred then proper ballsed up an easier chance when Wellington Silva crossed the ball into his path but the "striker" could only rocket the strike against the crossbar from about eight inches out.
