It's probably fair to say that Liverpool aren't exactly masters of the transfer market.
Many of their purchases haven't lived up to their potential, Luis Suarez wasn't replaced when he departed for Barcelona and there's not been enough quality re-investment of the money made on that deal. And Reds legend Jamie Carragher has taken a pop at Liverpool's questionable history of recruitment now that his former side are being linked with Christian Benteke. It's safe to say that Carragher isn't filled with confidence based on the amount of money that Liverpool have shelled out on flops in the past.
