The truth behind Liverpool’s so-called agreement with “Turkish Messi”

Liverpool have dismissed claims from Turkey that a deal has been agreed to bring Abdulkadir Omur to Anfield.

Reports emerged on Monday that the Reds had shaken hands on a deal which would see Omur, who has been described by some as 'the Turkish Messi', move to Liverpool at the end of the season for a fee said to be in the range of €20 million. The Liverpool Echo have quoted senior club sources to rubbish the reports and have confidently stated that the 19-year-old is not even a target for Jurgen Klopp, who is not expected to complete any business before Thursday's transfer deadline. Elsewhere in transfer gossip land, Paris St-Germain's French international Adrien Rabiot is apparently prepared to rebuff the rumoured approaches of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea because Rabiot would prefer a switch to Liverpool. Rabiot's contract with the Ligue 1 powerhouse is set to expire in the summer and he had been previously linked with a move to Barcelona although that now seems unlikely to come to fruition. Liverpool already have plenty of players capable of playing in central midfield so may not take advantage of Rabiot's apparent interest in making Anfield his new home. (Sun) The future of Olivier Giroud remains up in the air following the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain at Chelsea according to Goal. Giroud would have been hopeful of getting more first-team opportunities after the Blues made it clear that Alvaro Morata would be leaving the club this January but that hope was soon quelled when Higuain was brought in from Juventus. It is now being reported that Giroud, who has scored just once for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, could return to France in pursuit of more playing time. And in case anyone was wondering what Martin O'Neill is up to nowadays, the former Republic of Ireland boss is reportedly keen on an £8 million move for West Ham's Reece Oxford. (Mirror) It was confirmed on Monday that Roy Keane had followed O'Neill into his new role at Nottingham Forest and the management team is now aiming to bolster their squad in the hopes of securing a play-off place. Oxford has struggled for game time under Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini, who has previously admitted that they would be willing to let the 20-year-old go for the right price.
