Remember that classic Shane Duffy English debate? Of course you don't! It never existed.
Shane Duffy was born in Derry. He represented Northern Ireland from u16s right up until u21 level. At senior level, he declared for the Republic of Ireland. Through brilliant performances and excellent league form, he nailed down a starting place in the Boys In Green's defence.
He is Irish. He is an Irish centre-back. That may seem like the most obvious thing in the world to say, but tell that to Troy Deeney.

The Watford striker was on the Monday Night football panel for Brighton and Hove Albion's Premier League game at Southampton. In the pregame build-up, he called Duffy and his partner in central defence Lewis Dunk 'typical English cenre-halves.'
Dunk is English, born and bred.
Duffy, as we've already established, is not. As the good people of Twitter weren't afraid to point out.
