Trent Alexander-Arnold announced his departure from Liverpool in an emotional video on social media, nearly a month ago. It was later revealed he would leave the Premier League champions for Real Madrid when his contract expired.
The two-time Premier League winner's decision to leave on a free caused his relationship to sour with parts of the Liverpool fanbase. It even led to Liverpool fans booing Alexander-Arnold's name earlier this month in their home draw against Arsenal.
The Spanish giants reopened talks with the Reds this week on getting their new star in so he could play in the competition. Their initial €1 million offer to sign him early was rejected.
Alexander-Arnold will join Madrid on June 1st, 29 days before he was due to join. The 15-time Champions League winners will also cover his wages for the month of June.
Liverpool are expected to replace their former star with Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong. It looks like he will join the club shortly for £30 million.
