Transfer talk: Manchester clubs eye up Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling for €55m apiece

The Manchester clubs want the Premier League trophy back up north.

Manchester City are none to happy with their listing performances in the 2014/15 season. Manuel Pellegrini has been given the go-ahead to hunt four world-class players to transform his team and overtake Chelsea. The Chilean has identified Juventus and France midfielder Paul Progba as his main priority. City are prepared to pump £60m [€82m] on Pogba, according to The Sun, and the spending will not stop there. Liverpool's want-away starlet Raheem Sterling may yet force his club's hand. Sterling wants more wages and Champions League football and, while he is at it, some respect. City have already inquired about the 21-year-old. A proposed £30m switch was blanked but City, reveal Manchester Evening News, think they can get the deal over the line for £40m [€55m]. While we are on the subject of £40m transfer bids, that is how much money Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has set aside to secure Harry Kane's services. Fresh off the back of a 30-goal season with Spurs, and an England debut, Kane is hot property. Daily Mirror believe Real Madrid will rebuff any advances for Gareth Bale so United are lining up Kane as a goalscoring fall-back option. The Daily Telegraph report that Spurs' top dog Daniel Levy has no intention of letting goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, another United target, leave White Hart Lane. Arsenal do not look likely to throw £40m and £50m around. Instead, they are intent on getting Petr Cech off Chelsea. £11m will get the Czech goalkeeper to North London, claim London's Evening Standard.
