The Special One weeps for Irish football and for Giovanni Trapattoni.
Earlier today, Jose Mourinho was announced as a pundit on BT's Champions League coverage for next season, and was asked once again about FIFA's €5 million payment to the FAI in the aftermath of France's win over Ireland in the 2010 World Cup playoff.
The Chelsea boss had previously expressed his displeasure at the idea of FIFA making the payout and today he sympathised further with Giovanni Trapattoni and the Irish fans.
"Until this moment, I laugh about the corruption at FIFA," Mourinho told the Sunday World.
"Until now, we are just speaking outside the four line. Corruption means the World Cup goes here and there and so on. It's not really my job to talk about this. But when I hear that a country that should be in the World Cup and that millions of Irish people that should be enjoying its country in the World Cup, but they didn't. Then they close their mouth and their emotions and their hearts because somebody got €5m....I am happy that I am not Trapattoni."
Who knew Jose had such a soft spot for Irish football? Damien Duff must have made quite the impression on him at Chelsea.
