The embarrassing reason for QPR’s cancellation of Player of the Year ceremony

There will be no QPR Player of the Year ceremony this season.

After a massively underwhelming season for Queen's Park Rangers, there seems to have been very little interest among supporters in terms of witnessing any pats on the back for the club's players. Due to a lack of ticket sales for the ceremony, the Championship club have decided to cancel the event. Fans began purchasing tickets last week but they didn't exactly fly off the shelves, which has prompted the call from the R's brass. "We are naturally disappointed that we've had to cancel the event," QPR CEO Lee Hoos told the club's website. "I have spoken to a lot of fans over the last 18 months about their desire for the event to return, but it seems the price point is still an issue and therefore we've been left with little option but to cancel the event." Those loyal QPR fans who did buy tickets for the ceremony will receive a full refund. The absence of enthusiasm around Loftus Road is not exactly surprising, given the lack of on-pitch success. QPR currently sit in 16th place of the Championship table, with Ian Holloway's side having lost three games on the bounce.
