Steven Gerrard’s Anfield farewell boots raise a fortune to help refugee crisis

The pair of boots Steven Gerrard wore during his last home game for Liverpool have fetched a whopping amount of money for charity.

The special edition Adidas Predator Instinct boots Steven Gerrard wore during that 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace fetched a huge £40,200 (€56, 987 approx) at an online charity auction. Gerrard donned the footwear in his last appearance for the Reds before he set sail for the sunny shores of LA Galaxy in the MLS. The boots contain a poignant message on the inside reading: ‘You’ll leave a legend, you’ll return a hero; the city of Liverpool is always with you. You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ The money raised will go to the British Red Cross Europe Refugee Crisis Appeal, while one lucky Liverpool fan picked up the boots.
