Steve McClaren may have imposed an unenforceable rule at Newcastle United

Steve McClaren has a innovative plan to impose discipline on his new team. The Newcastle United manager has introduced a new code of conduct at the club, with his most ambitious idea being a blanket ban of swearing. Players and staff won't be allowed curse, even when frustrated, and will be fined if they break the rule. McClaren reportedly wants to impose a higher standard of professionalism at the North-East club, and plans to be strict on a squad that underperformed last season. Mobile phones are also banned, and McClaren sent two players home for arriving five minutes late for training last week. So while Newcastle may continue to be a club metaphorically cursed, their players are getting a swear jar.
