Here’s a round-up of this weekend's biggest stories involving Irish players, which we’ll bring you every week.
Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying campaign gets under way in September, hosting Hungary at the Aviva on September 6 before a trip to Armenia on September 9.
All is rosy for Evan Ferguson at Roma so far. In his first game, he got the player of the match award, in his second game, he got his first assist.
This was surely an emotional occasion for Ferguson, he played this match very shortly after the passing of his grandfather.
Seamus Coleman continues to show his quality and his longevity for Everton.
Coming on as a late sub, he has now played his 17th consecutive season for the Toffees. His horrible injury a few years back could have ended it all, but he just keeps going. What a legend.
Now to the bad news. Troy Parrott has been ruled out of Ireland’s clash against Hungary.
After such a promising start to the season, Parrott has picked up and injury during training midweek and missed Alkmaar’s 1-0 win at the weekend.
Good news and bad news for Chiedozie Ogbene. The good news is he is going to get more game time.
The bad news is that it won’t be with Ipswich Town. Manager Kieran McKenna has opened up a loan option for the winger, saying he needs more time to recover from his injury.
After such a great first season with Celtic, it hasn’t ended well for him in Scotland.
Idah has failed to nail down his position at Parkhead and is expected to travel to Swansea today to complete a move. A disappointing end to what looked to be a promising move for the striker.
