But Vicente Del Bosque's side had a night they will want to immediately forget, as they went down 1-0 in Getafe and Georgia wildly celebrated one of the greatest nights in their history.
The Spaniards can become the first team to win three consecutive European Champions in France this summer, which would go some way to making up for 2014's World Cup horror show.

It's probably a bit premature to write off the holders' tournament chances based on one (admittedly embarrassing) result, but that doesn't mean it wasn't amusing.
