That LFC credit card must be about to melt from overuse
Nathaniel Clyne is set to become the latest new arrival at Liverpool after Southampton accepted an improved bid of £10.5million, plus a potential £2million in add-ons.
England full-back Clyne has just a year left on his Saints contract and, having made it clear he would not be signing a new deal, and having rejected an opening offer of £9million (plus £1.5m in add-ons), the south coast club have acted to cash in on the second bid.
Having already signed Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim for £21million, it marks the second time in a week that Liverpool have snapped up a Manchester United target, although their interest in Clyne had cooled noticeably as they chased other targets and the 24-year-old made known his preference for the Anfield club.
Clyne is still on holidays, so Liverpool have yet to agree personal terms with the player, but that is not expected to be a major stumbling block to him becoming the fourth Southampton player to join Liverpool in the past 12 months.
Reds legend Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to hail the move, even claiming some of the credit for the player's decision.

Clyne will become the sixth new arrival at Anfield following Firmino, James Milner, Danny Ings, Divock Origi, Adam Bogdan and Joe Gomez.
There will some nervous faces around Melwood when preseason training resumes as the Merseysiders continue to add international talent to their squad ahead of the new season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is still looking to sign a frontline striker, with Sevilla's Carlos Bacca linked with a £21million transfer that would bring the club's summer spending past £60million.
