Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responds to stinging Jamie Carragher criticism

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher's claims that he isn't good enough to manage United. During the latest edition of Monday Night Football, Carragher argued that Solskjaer isn't good enough to manage the Red Devils, and that a change of personnel is required if the Red Devils are to compete to win the Premier League.

"Solskjaer will not win a Premier League or a Champions League as Manchester United manager. He is not at the level as Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel or Pep Guardiola, who have got years of experience and have won major trophies.

"He knows himself, as does every Manchester United fan," Carragher added, "that he isn't at the same level as the other manager at the top of the Premier League."

He also responded in fiery fashion to Carragher's claims he wasn't good enough, saying that the former England international's opinions won't change the views of the board. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer said:

"It doesn’t affect me but of course you see some of the comments, we’ve got Liverpool on Sunday as well so Jamie is always looking at these little things. "I’ve got my values, my way of managing, I believe in myself, as long as the club believes in me, I'm pretty sure Jamie Carragher’s opinion isn’t going to change that."

The Norwegian has come under-fire for poor performances of late - the most recent being a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City - and his future is the main topic surrounding Old Trafford right now, but Solskjaer isn't worried about the speculation. "There's pressure all of the time," said the United boss. "There's pressure on me, of course. We've been under pressure before but come through it. I'm just looking forward to the response now and, as you said, I'm in dialogue with the club all of the time, so that's an open and honest discussion." United are looking to return to winning ways on Wednesday night when they host Atalanta in the Champions League. Related links:
