Sligo Rovers’ Gavin Peers will go to the ends of the Earth to claim goal from debutant

Sligo Rovers let a late lead slip to drop points against Cork City last night, but it's not the result that Gavin Peers is bitter about.

Former Rovers player Ross Gaynor came back to haunt Sligo as his 11th hour equaliser saw both sides take a point from the dramatic Airtrcity league opener. Steven Beattie opened his account for the Connacht outfit on his debut by bundling the ball into the net just five minutes from the death. Peers reckons that it was him who stuck the ball into the net, not Johnny-come-lately Beattie.
