If you have been scanning the betting markets you'll know that the favourites to take over at Aston Villa include Tim Sherwood and Glenn Hoddle, with Jose Mourinho nowhere to be seen in the list.
But even before Paul Lambert was given the push, one young Villa fan had big plans for his team. The Birmingham Mail have the story of Jude Branson, who wrote to the Chelsea boss the week before Lambert was fired, asking Mourinho the following:
‘Dear Mr Mourinho, My name is Jude. I am 6 years old and I support Aston Villa. You are my favourite manager. Please could you manage Villa and bring Costa with you? We need help. Thank you Jude Branson.’
You have to admire the kid's moxy all the same.
Jose didn't say yes, or no, but he did send the kid a signed photo and Jude's father Phil is hopeful that the letter might just pay off one day.
‘[The photo] will be framed and put on his bedroom wall. It’s good to know that his letter was read and maybe even planted the seed in his head which will lead him to the Villa job one day. This is an excellent way to end a brilliant few days for Jude.’
You can see where Jude gets his optimistic attitude from.
