Shamrock Rovers abrubtly announce departure of Pat Fenlon

Pat Fenlon has parted ways with Shamrock Rovers after less than two years as club manager.

Rovers made the announcement on their official website which comes after they lost 2-0 against Finnish side RoPS Rovaniemi in a Europa League qualifying round during the week, which has left them with a mountain to climb in order to keep their European campaign alive. They're sitting in fourth place in the Airtricity League, 14 points behind table-toppers Dundalk, and also trailing Cork City and Derry who are lying in second and third respectively. The statement on Fenlon's departure is as follows:

"Shamrock Rovers Football Club wishes to announce that it have parted company with First team manager Pat Fenlon with immediate effect. "The Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks for the dedication and commitment Pat has shown over the course of three seasons with the Club. "Everyone at the club wishes Pat all the best in the future. "There will be no further comment from the club on this matter. "A further statement will follow from the club in due course."
