Zarko Udovicic has left his club in Serbia after hooligans reportedly raided the dressing room at the club's training ground and held the player at gun-point.
The Novi Pazar man missed an 85th minute penalty on Saturday in a game the team lost 1-0 and it's believed that the club's own supporters were responsible for the raid.
According to FifPro, who just two months ago warned professionals not to play in the Super Liga in Serbia because there were fears they wouldn't get paid, several hooligans burst into the changing rooms at the start of the week.
And, president of the Serbian Professional Footballers' Association, Mirko Poledica, was angered that no action was taken by the FA and said that a player could get murdered.
“Must we wait until some hooligan actually kills one of our players?" he said. "What worries me is that there is no reaction from the football association. They remain quiet.
“They must do something to guarantee the safety of the players. But they don’t. Next time a player could be murdered.
“In Serbia, no fan has ever been prosecuted or convicted after violent behaviour against a football player. That’s why players are afraid.
“Each day they hope that there will be nobody knocking on their door to beat them up, that there will be no person setting their car on fire, or that there will be no hooligan putting a gun to their head.”
Here's the missed penalty - a kick of a piece of leather - that saw a gun pointed at a man's face and a player leave his job.
