Sepp Blatter announced at an impromptu press conference today that he is stepping down from his post as Fifa president. This comes in the wake of the arrest of seven of the body's officials and the indictment of 18 people on £100 million worth of corruption charges in a US-led investigation, After being re-elected as president of the organisation for a fifth term on Friday, Blatter has decided to call it quits following the fresh allegations. I decided to stand again for election for the good of football.” “I will organise extraordinary congress for a replacement for me as president. I will not stand. I am now free from the constraints of an election. I will be in a position to focus on profound reforms. For many years we have called for reforms.
