BT pundit’s comments on Seamus Coleman reminds us how iconic the Irishman is

Irish people know just how good Seamus Coleman is, but BT Sport have reminded us that we might take for granted the impact that he has had on the Premier League. Coleman has been in at Everton since 2009, and has been the heartbeat of the team for over a decade, and despite his ageing years, the irishman remains a key part of the club. Former Everton star Leon Osman was speaking on BT Sport before Everton took on Manchester United in the early kick off, and he was full of praise for his former teammate.

"He's a brilliant person first and foremost. Off the field, he couldn't do enough for you, a real gentleman of the game. On the pitch you add what he's become. "He's become a leader, and a character, on top of the player that he's always been. I wouldn't have thought that when he joined Everton back in 2009, from Sligo for £60,000 as the Evertonians still sing.

"A real find, an absolute bargain, I mean you don't see that very often these days. It took him about a year or 18 months, to really cement his place in the first team squad, but he hasn't looked back since, he's gone strength to strength - captains his country as well.

"Every manager that comes into this club, and it's been a difficult time this last three or four years, he's straight into the first team, and he has a real good run.

"He's a real tough competitor, he's a powerful boy, he's diligent, he takes his defending seriously, and I think he's had a fantastic career - what a find for £60,000, he deserves all the credit he can get.

"I know frank and his staff from working with him couldn't speak highly enough of him, the way he conducts himself around the training ground, his performances, and his longevity.
