Roy Keane says he probably should have ripped Carlos Queiroz’s head off at Man United

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane said one of his biggest regrets from his time at the club was not ripping former assistant manager Carlos Queiroz's head off.

Queiroz served as an assistant manager at United between 2002 and 2008, interrupted briefly by one season at Real Madrid, but Keane felt that the current Iran manager was very disrespectful towards him near the end of his time at Old Trafford. https://twitter.com/danielball97/status/1009492936768311303 "For some reason towards the end of my time I found him really disrespectful towards me," said Keane on ITV's pre-match show.

"He questioned my loyalty and I told him where to go but one of my big regrets really was that I probably should have ripped his head off.

"But excellent coach and he's doing an excellent job it has to be said." Iran won their opening game in Group B with a 1-0 win over Morocco and Queiroz said that the victory was beautiful and that his side aimed to create a mental collapse in the Moroccan team. “After so many years in this business, the first game of a World Cup is always difficult and tough and this was no different – but it was also beautiful,” Iran coach Queiroz said of the country’s second-ever World Cup win.

“We started very carefully and I’m sure they studied the Iranian team, we knew they have a very strong and powerful start to the game – always with full speed and a great attacking spirit.

“Our strategy was, from the first minute, to create a mental collapse in the Moroccan players, we try to do that by creating frustration and block all the playmakers and the players who can create something.”
