Roy Keane didn’t hold back when responding to Ian Wright’s 'childish' comments during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday night.
Keane, Wright, Gary Neville, and Jamie Carragher took part in a special Stick to Football watchalong for the evening's Premier League games.
Arsenal's victory over the Red Devils was the main match they covered during the stream, as the Gunners recorded a comfortable win over the away side thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba.
The result kept Arsenal in contention at the top of the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Liverpool. Man United, meanwhile, slipped into the bottom half of the table.
During the YouTube watchalong, with the Gunners leading 2-0, Arsenal legend Wright couldn't resist gloating.
“I think we’ve been very patient with a mid-table team,” the former striker joked, struggling to contain his laughter.
“They’ve really frustrated us, but we just had to get it done.”
Keane, however, took issue with this and fired back at Wright.
“What age are you? You’re a grandfather. Sitting there going, ‘You’re a mid-table team,’ being childish. Show some class," the former United captain said.
Unfazed, Wright retorted: “What’s that got to do with anything? I’m a fan watching my team win. Was Jamie showing class during the Liverpool game?”
“Absolutely not,” Keane said.
The banter continued, with Wright turning to Neville and Carragher: “You can only push the United lads so far.”
Neville took the opportunity to rib Carragher: “We weren’t expecting class from him, to be honest. There’s no expectation of class at all.”
