OK, everyone take a breath.

That was a pretty crazy morning. It began with rumours that Alvaro Morata's transfer to Manchester United would be completed in a matter of hours but, all of a sudden, reports emerged that a deal had been agreed to bring Everton's Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford for a fee of £75 million. The Beeb reported it. https://twitter.com/BBCSport/status/882891504271978496 The Guardian reported it.  https://twitter.com/guardian/status/882894217521115137 Our Uk brethren (kind of) reported it. https://twitter.com/JOE_co_uk/status/882898212067172353 Well apparently, horses need to be held because there is seemingly a long way to go yet before we can start praising Paul Pogba's persuasive abilities and confirm that Lukaku is indeed a United player. Well-connected Mirror journalist, Darren Lewis, has claimed that Chelsea remain in the race for the Belgian powerhouse, contrary to initial reports that they'd been beaten to the punch. https://twitter.com/MirrorDarren/status/882897199562141696 Similarly, and perhaps more credibly, Jim White has also insisted that the reports were premature. White is closely connected with Everton part-owner, Farhad Moshiri, and he took to the talkSPORT airwaves to tell supporters that no deal has been reached between the Red Devils and Lukaku and that reports of the £75 million fee are "incorrect." https://twitter.com/JimWhite/status/882899245128454144 It remains altogether possible that Lukaku will end up a United player before the end of this transfer window but that's not quite the case just yet.
