But the 3-3 draw with Newcastle on Tuesday night proved that there are goals in Louis van Gaal's side, with Wayne Rooney finding the net twice in a game for the first time in over a year. And his former strike partner did the same less than 24 hours later as Robin van Persie scored two gorgeous goals during Fenerbahce's 6-1 drubbing of Giresunspor in the Turkey Cup. His first arrived on the hour mark when Gokhan Gonul teed the Dutchman up to confidently fire the ball over the head of a defender on the line.
