Roberto Martinez does not have good news on Seamus Coleman’s fitness for the Germany game

We are just about to turn to God.

If Ireland are to cause a major shock next Thursday and beat Germany, or even grab a draw, then we will need every single available player at the peak of their powers, and then some. Seamus Coleman is included in that bracket but the Everton man has missed the last three weeks of action with a hamstring problem and is a major doubt for the Merseyside derby this Sunday against Liverpool. That's very disappointing for Toffees fans, but more importantly if he does miss that game it would mean he would be hardly in ideal shape to face Germany next week in the most important game of Martin O'Neill's tenure. In fact, Roberto Martinez would be within his right not to let the Killybegs man travel back to Dublin for the game, though he would again risk the wrath on Roy Keane. Martinez gave an update on the Coleman's fitness this afternoon as well as John Stones, and it's looking decidedly dodgy that the full-back will be fit to face the world champions next week.

“It is too early to tell, they are progressing well and in the next two sessions we will get a clearer idea.  I wouldn't be able to tell you one way or another but they have progressed well since the West Brom game." “We will make a decision as late as we can, we are probably going to leave it until the day of the game."
