REVEALED: Full transcript of Real Madrid’s astonishing David De Gea tirade

Real Madrid are still sticking to their story - we really, really wanted David De Gea but Manchester United's bungling sabotaged the deal. On Monday night, the stylist of David De Gea's girlfriend was preparing a new suit for his unveiling as a Real Madrid player. By Tuesday, he was contemplating another season between the sticks with United. Since then, there has been tit-for-tat accusations made by both clubs as they try to quick-step away from the exploding transfer wreck without glancing back. Real president Florentino Perez is the first high profile figure from either side to launch a broadside. Rather than distill his vitriol, here is a full transcript of his take on Real's dealings with United.

'On Monday we tried to complete the purchase first and foremost for De Gea, who had done a great deal to come here. 'We sent in the contracts at 13:30 and Manchester United waited eight hours to return them. For us the documentes entered in at 00:02. We have proof of this and so does FIFA. 'It’s a disgrace, I don’t want to place the blame on anyone, but we don’t understand why it took eight hours to return the contracts. 'We couldn’t negotiate with United before Monday because the message from them was that he was not for sale.'

Only warming up, Perez adds:

'I think Man Utd lack experience with these things. This happened with us with Fabio Coentrão and Athletic Bilbao and Ander Herrera. 'A year ago we new the the most appropriate replacement for Iker Casillas was De Gea. 'As of now ,I don’t know what’s going to happen with De Gea. I haven’t spoken to him. 'I know De Gea was very affected because he really wanted to come. 'Those who know [me] know I don’t play people. There are several versions to the De Gea story. 'On Monday, when United told us they would negotiate, we tried for the player because we couldn’t leave him hanging. 'During evening we felt we wouldn’t get it done because we knew the lack of experience with this at United. 'De Gea was a done deal the whole day, we had prepared his presentation, but it wasn’t to be.'
