Republic of Ireland defender Greg Cunningham is on the verge of signing for Premier League newcomers Cardiff City.

The Preston North End left-back has reportedly agreed personal terms to join Neil Warnock's side after a fee of around £4m was agreed between the two clubs.
According to the Lancashire Post, Cunningham has undergone a medical in Cardiff and is now poised to complete his move to the Welsh club.

Cardiff City were previously linked with West Bromwich Albion winger James McClean, however, the club signed Norwich City winger Josh Murphy on Tuesday for a fee believed to be worth around £11m. Murphy is manager Neil Warnock's first signing since Cardiff won promotion back to the Premier League and the 23-year-old has said the manager has been superb with him so far. “I’ve scored a couple against Cardiff, yeah, but now it’s all about scoring goals for us,” Josh reflected. “I can’t wait get going and hopefully hit the ground running. “The manager [Neil Warnock] has been absolutely brilliant, especially the way he’s told me that he wants to play and use me. I can’t think of a better fit and can’t wait to get started.”
