Reports from Italy that Liverpool made a deadline day approach for Argentine striker

Liverpool have now gone three consecutive games without finding the net so a striker is very much required. Corriere della Sera (via Football Italia) claim that Liverpool came in at the very death in an attempt to bring Icardi to Anfield. The fee quoted is around €30 million but the San Siro side saw fit to reject it, despite the fact that Icardi has reportedly fallen out favour with Roberto Mancini. It will come as scant consolation for Liverpool fans that at least the club tried to bring in a goal threat.
