REPORT: Real Madrid owe David de Gea a whopping amount of money for NOT signing him

David de Gea may be laughing all the way to the bank after his move to Real Madrid fell through.

The Manchester United shot-stopper may be a bit disheartened about missing out on his desired transfer switch. Especially considering the very confusing circumstances in which the transfer broke down.

However, the failed moved might be a very lucrative non-deal for the Spaniard.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, de Gea is set to receive €10 million as a consolation from Real Madrid for the ordeal.

The Madrid-based newspaper claims that Real Madrid promised the Manchester United goalkeeper the payment if they failed to complete his transfer to the La Liga giants, and since it didn't happen, they are forced to shell out the dough. While this may seem like a ridiculous story devised by the paper, it actually isn't beyond the realm of possibility that it is true. After all, the club have precedent for this. Florentino Perez once promised to pay the membership fees of 83,967 Real Madrid members if he failed to sign Luis Figo. Hat-tip to Bleacher Report
