REPORT: Louis van Gaal has made a huge decision on the David de Gea transfer saga

LVG has made up his mind, and he doesn't want the situation regarding David de Gea's future being dragged out for much longer.

Van Gaal has asked Manchester United’s board to sell David de Gea’s to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. The goalkeeper has been linked heavily with a move to the La Liga behemoths throughout the summer window and Spanish newspaper AS says that Van Gaal has grown weary of de Gea's departure being drawn-out. They claim he has requested that De Gea's departure be made as swiftly as possible. Van Gaal reportedly came to the realisation that he wanted the keeper to leave after his side's 2-0 defeat to PSG on Wednesday. De Gea had a particularly poor performance in the match, which was evident by his involvement in a mix-up with Phil Jones and Luke Shaw that resulted in the Ligue 1 outfit's opening goal. The Spaniard was subsequently taken off at half-time. After that match, van Gaal admitted being frustrated over de Gea's showing.

“We have a situation that is not favourable for David De Gea but neither for us and neither for the club [Real Madrid] that maybe he wants to go. "Everybody can make mistakes but when a goalkeeper makes a mistake it is mostly a goal and that’s the difference.”

Should de Gea leave Old Trafford this summer, LVG will have to decide whether Sergio Romero, Anders Lindegaard and Victor Valdes provide enough depth in this position. With reports of Valdes being transfer listed for refusing to play on the reserves, LVG may be seeking another number one before the window closes. Hat-tip to the Guardian
