REPORT: Chelsea could be on the verge of a player revolt. You’ll never guess who’s at the centre of it

Back in the 2011/12 season, before Chelsea were the divisive Champions League winners we know and love/hate today, they had a problem.

Manager Andre Villas Boas wanted to phase out some of the club's older players - the likes of John Terry and Frank Lampard, to name but two - and said players didn't like it too much. That couldn't happen now, though, right? Jose Mourinho is far too respected at the club for another quasi-mutiny to strike the club... or at least that's what you'd think. But now The Guardian report that "senior players" are worried about the boss "scapegoating" individuals for Chelsea's poor performances. Sound familiar? Well it should. Chelsea currently sit 14th in the Premier League table with eight points from seven games. They have won just twice, against West Brom and Arsenal, and go into the weekend's match against Southampton off the back of a 2-1 Champions League defeat to Mourinho's former club FC Porto. The latest revelations will come as another blow for the manager, who has had to content with the departure of doctor Eva Carneiro amid suggestions of a legal battle following Mourinho's comments during and after the opening-day draw against Swansea.
