Real Madrid star Raul Asencio, 22, could face criminal proceeding for allegedly sharing a sex tape involving a minor, as reported by Spanish outlet Marca.
The Spanish site reported yesterday (14 May) that the judge of the San Bartoleme de Tirajana court in the Gran Canaria ruled an ending to the initial investigation and formalised the [athway to criminal proceedings against four suspects.
This will pave the way for potential charges to be filed and the opening of a trial.
The four people investigated include Raul Asencio and three former Real Madrid C teammates, Andres Garcia, Ferran Ruiz and Juan Rodriguez for recording sexual images of two women, one of whom was a minor, and distributing them without consent.
The Madrid centre-back has played 40 times this season across all competitions.
The other players were arrested in September 2023, and Asencio was only investigated after he was called to five testimony as a witness.
At the time, Real Madrid issued a statement reading saying that "a Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players” had made statements to the Guardia Civil “relating to a complaint about the alleged broadcasting of a private video via WhatsApp”.
It added: “When the club has detailed knowledge of the facts, we will take the appropriate measures."
The Athletic already reported in February that a Spanish court had rejected an appeal by Asencio for the provisional dismissal of the case.
Court documents during that appeal confirmed that one of the women was under the age of 16 when the incident took place.
