We've always liked Rafa Benitez. Honestly.

And it turns out he's got a bit of a sense of humour, too. Well, either that or he is just mercilessly cutting. Because, when Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler (all Scousers genuflect) tried to worm his way back into Benitez's plans, he was given short shrift. The Mirror are reporting a text message exchange between the former Anfield player and manager not long after Rafa was unveiled as the new Real Madrid boss. It seems that, nine years after the Spaniard resurrected Fowler's Liverpool career - at least for a season - Robbie is hoping he can revive his football career now, too. Apparently the strike legend was in Madrid and sent his old boss a cheeky message to say he's on his way for a medical with the club. Benitez gave him a better response to let him know just where he stands. text Nice try, Robbie.
