Reading player appears to take throw-in from the shadow line instead of the sideline

A Reading player has appeared to take a throw-in from the shadow line, and not the sideline, during the Royals final game of the season against Cardiff City on Sunday.

The sun was shining high at Cardiff City Stadium and created a shadow line a couple of yards from where the actual sideline was located. https://twitter.com/scottish_mags/status/993102452982534144 Referee Bobby Madley and his fellow match officials failed to notice that the throw-in had actually taken place on the pitch and not behind the sideline in what is one of the stranger misses of the season. Cardiff are currently in second place in the Championship and a win against Reading will assure the Welsh side of a return to the Premier League. Manager Neil Warnock said that he never predicted his squad would be in line for a promotion push but that it's a credit to his players that they have put themselves in a position to return to the Premier League for the first time since the club were relegated from the top flight of English football in 2014. "We're not daft, with the wage structure and what we spent, we never envisaged that we'd be where we are, if I'm honest," said Warnock. "We always planned to try and be in that top ten at Christmas time and be pushing for the top-six come April to try and get in the Play-Offs. "All credit to the lads, they've really taken everything on board and we've worked hard. We know we're not everybody's cup of tea, but it seems to be that mentality that has made us stronger. "We keep getting kicked in the teeth and we keep bouncing back up, and that's surprising a lot of people. It doesn't surprise me though, because of the quality of the dressing room - it's as good as I've ever had." Fulham currently trail 2-0 to Birmingham City which means Cardiff will secure promotion as long as the Cottagers lose with just one point separating the two sides behind champions Wolves.
