Ahead of kick-off on Sunday, Rangers were in second place, 12 points behind Celtic, and eight points clear of Aberdeen in third place. Gerrard's side reached the group stages of the Europa League, and beat Celtic at Ibrox in December, but failed to make an impact in the domestic cup competitions or in the title race.
The former England midfielder has signed 19 players since becoming Rangers manager last May. He has called for the club to back him again in the summer transfer window as they seek to close the gap on Celtic.Football
