Arsenal have entered the race to sign Joshua Kimmich as official talks have taken place according to Sky Sports Germany.
Florian Plettenberg reports that the Gunners are keen to sign the 30-year-old right-back on a free transfer as a possible replacement for defensive-midfielder Jorginho.
Kimmich has now received two offers from abroad, including one from the Premier League, which is making him hesitant to sign a new deal with Bayern Munich.
Kimmich has informed Bayern about the offers, but Kimmich’s camp says that discussions with Eberl/Freund are still ongoing.
The German international's contract expires at the end of June. Bayern have reportedly tabled a three-year extension worth up to £18million per year.
The Bundesliga leaders are willing to re-enter negotiations but will not make a more significant financial offer to a player who is now in his 30s.
Mikel Arteta's side are expected to have a busy summer as their search for a striker continues. They have been strongly linked with Newcastle's Alexander Isak.
However, being the best striker in the Premier League this season, he is likely to come with a hefty price tag and a more likely candidate could in fact be RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.
The Gunners have also been linked with midfielder Martin Zubimendi in what would be a £51m deal with Real Sociedad.
They are desperate to end their run of near-misses when it comes to the Premier League title.
With this year's race all but over, having fallen 13 points behind league leaders Liverpool, next season will mark 22 years since they last won the league.
According to The Athletic, they are hoping to have a new sporting director in place in March which will help get some of these deals over the line.
