Jose Baxter, a footballer once considered a better prospect than Wayne Rooney by Everton bosses, has been suspended by Sheffield United.

Baxter, 24, became Everton's youngest ever Premier League player when he made his debut aged 16, and still holds that record today. He played just seven times for the Toffees in the Premier League and has been with the Yorkshire club since 2013. The forward was an unused substitute in his club's FA Cup third round defeat at Old Trafford, where Rooney scored a stoppage-time winner. Everton v Blackburn Rovers - FA Barclays Premier League The Blades' statement reads as follows:
"Sheffield United Football Club can confirm that Jose Baxter has been suspended. "Procedures are being followed and no further comment will be made until the completion of these actions."
