Piqué accidentally leaked the news on a live stream
Gerard Piqué accidentally revealed that former Barcelona academy graduate Bojan Krkic will announce his retirement at the Nou Camp on Thursday.
Speaking live on a Twitch stream the ex-Spain international let slip that his former Barça teammate would be formally hanging up his boots at the home of where it all started.
Bojan – who was compared to Lionel Messi as one of the rising stars in Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy – last played in Japan for Vissel Kobe alongside Andres Iniesta.
He now finds himself without a club though and Piqué has said that he intends to call time on his career.
While in conversation with long-time friend and business partner Ibai Llanos on Twitch, the former Manchester United defender made the blunder before the look of shock on his face revealed that he had said something he shouldn’t have.
“Bojan is retiring, he will say goodbye on Thursday, at the Nou Camp,” he said. Llanos – looking shocked – then asked if it was true.

After departing the Nou Camp Bojan became somewhat of a journeyman throughout his career and became the first Spanish player to score in four of the top five leagues, playing for the likes of Barça, Inter Milan, Roma, Mainz and Stoke.
Other clubs on his CV include CF Montreal, Ajax, Vissel Kobe and Alaves as well as a solitary cap for the Spanish national team.
If Piqué’s announcement is to be true, Bojan will retire with two Champions Leagues, three LaLigas, a Club World Cup, an Eredivisie medal, Canadian Cup, Copa Del Rey and an UEFA Supercup.
