Reports tonight suggest one man is in hospital after the attack
Over the years you form an assumption that football fans in Turkey are just a little more passionate than in other regions of the world. The rivalry between the top clubs in the country such as Fenerbahce,Galatasaray and Beşiktaş is notorious and it's not far off the mark to say that there is sometimes naked hatred between rival fans of various clubs.
Well it seems that tonight that hatred has resulted in a very serious attack on the team bus of Fenerbahce after they recorded a 5-1 win over Caykur Rizespor in the Super Lig. The club have posted a number of pictures on the internet tonight showing the alleged damage to their bus with smashed glass and blood visible in a number of the images.
The incident occurred as the team were travelling through the city of Trabzon to get a flight back to Istanbul.

There are conflicting reports tonight as to the exact circumstances as to what happened and who might be responsible. Reports suggest that the driver was seriously injured and taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Some news agencies in Turkey are reporting it was an armed gang that attacked the bus but those are yet unconfirmed. Either way a very dark moment for Turkish football.
