PICS: Bolivians freak out over this graphic designer’s sketch of a fantasy away kit

If doodling for fun could lead to this hassle, our primary school copybooks could get us hung, drawn and quartered.

Angelo Trofa is an English graphic designer who likes to spend his spare time sketching fantasy football kits for various teams. And after the 26-year-old spent some time in Bolivia lately, he decided to throw together potential strips for the South American country's national team. The home jersey is nothing too crazy, staying faithful to the Bolivian traditional green and white while Trofa's vision of a potential away kit was a little more "out there".

The rainbow design is supposed to be a tribute to the Whiphala flag which represents the indigenous people of Bolivia.

"I didn't expect to cause such a huge outrage," Trofa said. "It's just a drawing of a football kit." "But the non-indigenous population disregard it and don't associate themselves with it," he added. "So I expected a bit [of abuse] but it snowballed and got a bit silly. "I received torrents of abuse - mainly from angry Bolivian men - people saying they would kill me if I went back and that I was designing for the Nazis. The reaction was ridiculous." Bit much!
