Let's hope Kevin Doyle's leg isn't as bad as it looks, because it looks like something out of a David Cronenberg film.
Doyle's return to the Irish team after nearly a two-year absence was cut short against Switzerland on Friday as the striker was stretchered off the field just 23 minutes into the match.
The Colorado Rapids player fell awkwardly on his ankle during a 50-50 challenge with a Swiss defender and immediately went crashing to the ground in a heap. It was obvious from his reaction to the fall, that he was going to need medical attention ASAP.
Doyle shared a positive update of the injury after the final whistle, claiming that the injury could have been worse, but it will require some surgery. Reports suggest there are no broken bones, but the gash needs to be cleaned and stitched back together.
Check out the horrific gash below... don't say we didn't warn you.
