Early on Friday morning, a significant statement of intent was made by Liverpool as the club's owners claimed that they would not be entertaining any offers for playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

"We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho," the statement from Fenway Sports Group read.
"The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes."
Well that message was not two hours old before the biggest turning point in the Coutinho-to-Barcelona saga arrived as, according to Sky Sources, the Brazilian midfielder has handed in a transfer request at Anfield.

Barcelona have reportedly seen two bids for the 25-year-old rejected and certain outlets had claimed that the La Liga outfit had already planned an unveiling ceremony for Coutinho.
But it certainly looks like the writing is on the wall now, with Coutinho appearing eager to force through a move to the Camp Nou.
No wonder Jurgen Klopp was in such a terrible mood at his first pre-match press conference of the Premier League season...
